Lovers of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the entire national park system can enjoy public events sponsored by Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association and Western Reserve Public Media. Please note that seating is limited at some events; interested parties are encouraged to call the contact numbers below for the most up-to-date information.

 

Free Premiere of Generations: Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.)

Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Western Reserve Public Media dignitaries will welcome guests at 7 p.m., and producer Duilio Mariola will answer questions following the one-hour premiere.

Seating is limited and reservations are required by calling the station at 330-677-4549 or 1-800-554-4549.

Happy Days Lodge is located at 500 W. Streetsboro Road (S.R. 303) in Peninsula. Free parking is available across the street from the facility, with limited handicapped parking available at Happy Days Lodge. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
 

 

Big-Screen Viewings: The National Parks: America’s Best Idea

From Sunday, Sept. 27, to Friday, Oct. 2, Cuyahoga Valley National Parks Association and Western Reserve Public Media will host big-screen viewings of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, concurrent with the series’ national PBS premiere.

 

Episode One: Dinner and a Movie **This event has sold out**

Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at 6:30 p.m.

Happy Days Lodge, 500 W. Streetsboro Road (S.R. 303), Peninsula

Come for dinner and stay to watch “The Scripture of Nature (1851-1890),” the first episode of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea. The film will be shown on the big screen concurrent with the national TV premiere on PBS stations. Following the premiere, there will be an optional gathering around the campfire for people to share their national park stories.

 

Episodes Two Through Six

Monday, Sept. 28, through Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.

Happy Days Lodge, 500 W. Streetsboro Road (S.R. 303), Peninsula

The documentary continues on the big screen with one episode airing each evening. The viewings are free and require no reservations. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

After each episode, there will be an optional gathering around the campfire. On Friday, the program will be followed by a short ranger-led hike along Haskell Run Trail.
